Jim was raised on his great-great-great grandfather’s homestead along the James River. Jim is a 1979 graduate of Redfield High School and a 1981 graduate of Watertown Vocational Institute. Jim farmed and worked at the local Case I-H dealership until farming full time. He also performs some custom planting and harvesting. Jim runs a cow-calf operation, grows and sells hay, and plants and sells a variety of seed wheat. Jim is a member of the South Dakota Crop Improvement Association. Jim and his wife, Pam, still live near the original homestead with their two sons, Collin and Logan.
