- Redfield Energy to Partner with Wheat Growers for Corn Supply
Redfield Energy has announced that this fall Redfield Energy, LLC will be partnering with Wheat Growers for its corn procurement. Redfield Energy members and Wheat Growers members will be able to sell and deliver corn directly to the Redfield Energy plant through a supply agreement developed this year and put in place in time for this fall’s new crop activity. Wheat Growers will handle all corn contracting and spot purchasing of corn for the Redfield plant. Wheat Growers will be leasing the corn handling facilities from Redfield Energy and will supply the personnel to operate those facilities. Redfield Energy will then purchase corn from Wheat Growers as it is needed, just before the corn is processed. This matches up well with the risk management practices of an ethanol plant. As ethanol is marketed, corn can be purchased to lock in a margin. Producers can sell corn to Wheat Growers at the Redfield Energy plant, and receive settlements and patronage from Wheat Growers as they do at any Wheat Growers elevator. Grain programs such as DP and deferred payment will also be available as at other Wheat Growers elevators.
